OUR STORY

As 3rd Generation Farmers

We were both raised on poultry and grain farms in southeastern Manitoba. We have many memories of playing with the day-old chicks, spreading straw, and helping with the harvests.

Our days now start with a walkthrough of the barn in the morning to wake the ladies up. We water, feed and check air quality,  to ensure its optimal for the day.

Most of the eggs are laid by noon and by later on in the afternoon the family heads out to the barn to gather the eggs. Often there are 3 kids and one of us gathering eggs and chatting about the day or singing… We love raising our family and our hens in the Kootenays.

ABOUT SUNSHINE VALLEY FARMS

We are proud to be a small, family-run farm that delivers from our farm to your table. We have thoughtfully obtained the certification needed to get the eggs to store shelves and restaurants but we also handpick every egg personally so you are guaranteed a high-quality egg that is fresh straight from the farm.

Here are Sunshine Valley we are proud to have both
Free-Range Eggs and Organic Eggs certified by pro-cert
to support your lifestyle.

Our hens are personally looked after by our family. They live in a computer-controlled climate where everything possible is done to provide the perfect conditions for them. They have access to pasture where they can scratch in the dirt or hunt for bugs in the grass and alfalfa. In the barn, there is enough perching so each bird can roost for the night. Our hens are a part of our family and we interact with them every day.

OUR HENS ARE HAPPY HENS
